DIY Pine Cleaner

I’ve started to make some changes including getting rid of a lot of “chemicals” in our home so I started looking for alternative options. One of these is Pine Sol. I do love the smell and cleanliness of it but not all the chemicals that are added so I’m trying a DIY recipe. It takes approximately 3 weeks for it to be ready and it’s the perfect time since after the holidays since Christmas Trees will need repurposing soon.

Ingredients:

Pine Needles

Orange Peel

Lemon

Vinegar (White or Apple Cider)

Jar

Preparing pine needles

Cut pine branches down into smaller pieces to fit inside your jar. I chose a jar that was wider but not overly large so I could shake it every few days. I filled the jar with pine needles approximately 3/4 of the way full. After rolling lemon between your hands, cut it into quarters and add to the jar. You can eat your orange (or someone else can) since only the orange peel is needed. Cut your orange peel into smaller pieces and add to your jar. Essential oils can be used in place of the orange peel and lemon.

Jar filled with ingredients

Once all the ingredients are in the jar, fill the jar with vinegar until all ingredients are covered. Put the lid on and shake ingredients together. Put your jar in an area where you will remember to shake every few days. Some of the ingredients can float but you can always add more vinegar after a day or two if needed.

Filled jar……now we wait

Now I’ll be waiting for the next 3 weeks (I make no promises since I’m not the most patient person) for this to see how it works. I may leave it a little longer than 3 weeks just to make sure the infusion works.
